Apple, Alphabet, and Meta Face EU Probes over App Store Restrictions and Market Practices

The EU opened investigations into Apple, Alphabet, and Meta under its new Digital Markets Act legislation. The probes examine Alphabet’s and Apple’s app store restrictions, potential Google Search biases, iOS default settings, and Meta’s “pay or consent” model. Apple was recently fined $1.95 billion for app store restrictions on music services. The Commission is investigating whether Amazon favors its own products on its platform and analyzing Apple’s new fee policy and terms for alternative app stores.
